Mendocino village offers a relaxed but vibrant lifestyle to locals and visitors. Exciting events & festivals occur throughout the year. In November, the Wine & Mushroom Festival will feature a Mushroom Cuisine cooking class at Albion River Inn on November 9th. The Crab and Wine Festival in late Jan will feature a 3-course Crab and Wine tasting at Albion River Inn. March brings the Whale Festivals & Chowder Tasting in Mendocino - at which Albion River Inn always excels. Late May is the newest addition to our festival calendar, the Mendocino Film Festival. July is the fabulous Mendocino Music Festival which fills the air with 2 weeks of glorious music on the Mendocino headlands. And September brings the always exciting and entertaining Winesong event which is a splendid food and wine tasting and auction event in the Botanical Gardens.

There is a live theater or musical event every month on the Mendocino Coast, and arts & crafts fairs and open studio tours happen almost year round. Cooking classes at Albion River Inn are delciously engaging culinary events and are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, November - May.

If you come to the Mendocino Coast for its rugges outdoor beauty, our State Parks offer miles of hiking and walking trails along the headlands, up fern canyons, along creeks & rivers, virgin redwood groves, beaches, & hidden water falls. You can hike, bike, canoe, kayak, ride horseback, picnic on the beach, stroll by the ocean, or simply relax on your deck at Albion River Inn, where you can watch whales in complete comfort.

Charming sea-side villages dot the Mendocino coast from Gualala in the south, to Westport in the north. The historic village of Mendocino sits on an ocean headland promontory surrounded by wild meadows, trails and the sea. Just north of the village is the historic, Point Cabrillo Historic Light House. The Point Arena Light House is 45 minutes south. Both have Fresnel lenses and are open to visitors. You can enjoy art galleries, clothing and jewerly boutiques, and eclectic shopping and dining of all kinds. Live theatre, dance, and musical events from jazz and rock, to piano recitals and string quartets take place in Mendocino and environs throughout the year. The village of Mendocino is a short 15 minute drive north of Albion.

Things to do in our Area: The historic Skunk Train leaves Fort Bragg and rumbles through redwood forests on narrow guage tracks. The Botanical Gardens have 27 acres of native and hybrid plantings that meander down to the shore. Each May the Mendocino Film Festival presents engaging independant films, and in July the Mendocinio Music Festival presents 12 days of live music - jazz, blues, opera, dance, symphonies, and choral works - under the big white tent on the Mendocino headlands. Each September, Winesong - a gala wine auction event with delicious food and wine tastings - is held in the Botanical Gardens to benefit our local Hospital Foundation, in August the California Wine Tasting Championships are held at Greenwood Ridge Winery, and in December you can join the Candle Light Inn tour which benefits the Mendocino Coast Children's Fund..

California Wine Country

The pleasure of low-keyed, relaxed wine tasting in Mendocino County features the acclaimed wineries of Anderson Valley appelation region along Highway 128, just a half hour drive from the Albion River Inn and the coast.

Commercial fishing and whale watching trips are available out of Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg. The Gray Whale migration occurs in late fall through early spring and offers excellent opportunities to view these magestic giants from every headland cliff, including your own guestroom and private deck at Albion River Inn.
